After all that you accomplished, what drives you to continue running?
Pizza. No, seriously, it's passion that drives me. The same thing that drives every runner; and some discipline too.
How do you motivate yourself on days when you don't feel like running?
That's where discipline comes in. Motivation gets me up, but discipline gets me out the door.
On average, how many times and miles do you run a month?
It really varies because I travel so much. Some weeks I run 60 miles and other weeks it's more like 160.
What's the weirdest or funniest thing that ever happened to you while running?
I saw a huge fish try to jump across a bridge I was running on in Florida and it got hit by an oncoming truck. That was the strangest road kill ever!
What are your favorite types of fuel for running and why?
I love nut and seed butter, cashew butter and sesame butter are my favorites. Why? Because a guy can only eat so many gel packs.
What's your favorite cheat food & drink?
Chocolate covered espresso beans. No cheat drinks, the beans do it all.
Do you like ice baths? Why or why not?
I love ice baths; both for the recovery element and the mental strength to get into one.
What's the most important tip you like to give new runners?
Listen to everyone, follow no one. Try lots of things, but do what works best for you.
What is your favorite running accomplishment so far?
Running a 10K with my daughter on her 10th birthday. Nothing will ever top that.
